International studio Sanctuary Games has officially announced its latest project, Zanerdin The Unbound. This collectible strategic turn-based RPG will be available for PlayStation 5 and PC via Steam. While it doesn’t yet have an official release date, the first trailer already showcases the ambitious fantasy world concept with a unique approach to the gacha system.
Sanctuary Games Is Independent Studio
Sanctuary Games itself is an independent studio founded in April 2025 by Hyunduk You, former Business Development Manager at NEOWIZ. Despite its small size, the founder emphasized that the scale of their game’s story and ambitions won’t feel “indie.”
Main Attractions
One of Zanerdin The Unbound’s main attractions is its microtransaction-free gacha system. This means all in-game characters, pets, and equipment can be acquired through gameplay, not through additional purchases.
All Collectible Content Will Be Available
According to Hyunduk You, this concept was born from the belief that gacha mechanics can still be fun without a paywall. All collectible content will be available in the base game and can be obtained by completing various challenges.

In terms of gameplay, Zanerdin The Unbound features a strategic turn-based battle system. Over 25 playable characters are available, each with unique abilities based on their elemental Blessing and their position within the team. Teamwork is key to victory, primarily through two main systems.

Although Sanctuary Games is a small team, their ambition is clear. By rejecting an aggressive monetization model and introducing a gameplay-based gacha system, Zanerdin: The Unbound attempts to offer an alternative to the dominance of free-to-play gacha RPGs.
There’s no official pricing or release date yet. However, with its unique concept and focus on player experience, Zanerdin: The Unbound has the potential to be a strategy RPG worth anticipating on PS5 and PC.
